Mike is part of a new combined BS & MS program in Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University. He defends in April and graduates in May 2012. His focus in on controls, robotics, and image processing.
His thesis research is on aerial robotics for education, specifically quadrotors. He has developed a LabVIEW based AR Drone Toolkit allowing students to easily program the Parrot AR Drone quadrotor and create autonomous behaviors. High powered control and image processing routines are included to facilitate the rapid development of student's projects.
Finally, Mike has built the first (and only!) LEGO NXT powered quadrotor. It made one maiden autonomous flight before its untimely demise.
