Online Classes

RUNNING A FLL TEAM

Four one-hour classes, meeting once a week, with thirty minutes of Q & A after each class being led by Tufts CEEO and MINDSURFERS. Each session will include discussion topics related to FLL and its challenges, and building and programming tips.

This class will help beginning FLL Coaches and volunteers:

-Gain confidence guiding your team through the FLL season

-Get started with basic programming and building

-Gain an understanding of the types of building and programming challenges that are included in FLL challenges

Session 1:  Introduction to FLL - During this session we will discuss the philosophy of FLL, typical FLL challenges, and first steps for a new team. An introduction to the hardware and software will also be presented.

Session 2: Hardware - Session Two will focus on building with the NXT and using the sensors. Past FLL challenges will be used as building examples to help participants gain insight into what their teams may be asked to do as part of this year’s challenge. Simple programs involving the sensors will be shown. This session’s discussion will include troubleshooting and quick problem solving during the competition.

Session 3: Software- Session Three will focus on programming tips and tricks as related to FLL challenges. We will continue to expand participants’ repertoire of building skills.

Session 4: The Final Competition - During the last session, we will discuss what it is like to be at the competition and what teams can expect. Building and programming exercises will also be included in this session.

Cost:  $175 for all 4 session, $50 per session if you attend less than 4
