In this NSF-funded project, called Transforming Elementary Science through LEGO(TM) Engineering Design, we are working with Boston-area 3rd and 4th grade classrooms to evaluate curriculum that helps students learn science content through LEGO engineering design.

Multiple Representations of Ideas about Science - Brian Gravel

This research project aims to learn how students express their ideas about science, math, and engineering in various systes of representation. Systems include drawing, building, oral language, and stop-action movies using the CEEO's SAM Animation software.

Learning Engineering by Teaching Engineering - Adam Carberry

This research project is an attempt to analyze the effects of the the CEEO developed Student Teacher Outreach Mentorship Program (STOMP) on engineering undergraduate participants. Combined with data from STOMP and STOMP-like programs across the country, the goal is to determine how a leaning-by-teaching experience impacts the participants understandings of engineering; specifically engineering design.

The goal of this project was to investigate the design processes used by teachers in a professional development workshop involving hands-on LEGO challenges. I was interested in the design process of each teacher, and how this evolved during the workshop.
