Welcome
to the Tufts University Center for Engineering Educational Outreach, a
leader in supporting efforts to integrate engineering into K-12
education.
The core purpose of the CEEO is to improve education through engineering. In doing so, we hope to accomplish four goals:
- Increase students' excitement for learning math and science
- Give students skills that will make learning more enjoyable in all subjects
- Increase technological literacy for all
- Increase the awareness of the importance of engineering for society
To achieve these goals, we work to:
- Teach science, technology, and mathematics using the engineering process as the learning vehicle
- Teach the engineering process itself
- Teach students how to design solutions by combining individual experiences and math/science knowledge

Our motivationstems from our fundamental belief that the skills and values we help
students develop are closely connected to the transformation of our
physical world into a world where:
- Excitement for learning will help all people benefit more from their creative potential
- All people enjoy a higher quality of life in a more humane society
- All people assume greater environmental responsibility
- All people enjoy better health
Based at Tufts' Medford, MA, campus, the CEEO classifies its day-to-day work into four "pillars" of effort, described below.
- Partnerships
with K-12 educators: Tufts undergraduate and graduate students in
classrooms, where they efforts to use engineering as a learning vehicle
- Partnerships with industry: CEEO staff helping industry form mentoring relationships with K-12 educators
