Workshops for Kids: FAQs for Summer Workshops

Do you have workshops for all ages?

We usually offer two different summer workshops. Early Elementary Robotics is for students entering 1st or 2nd grade. Co-Ed Robotics is for students entering 3rd through 8th grades. We occasionally have workshops or internships for high school students and we occasionally offer workshops on Saturdays during the academic year. The age range for those workshops varies.

How do I find out about the workshops?
As soon as they are scheduled, workshops are announced through email. If you'd like to to be notified of future workshops for kids, click here to subscribe to the email list, or send a blank email to sympa@elist.tufts.edu with the subject "subscribe ceeoLEGOkids".

When will the summer workshop schedule be announced?
Usually, we are able to announce our schedule for the summer by the end of February.

How do I register my child?
When workshops are announced, we will provide a link to an online registration form. Registation will begin at a set time and date. Our workshops do fill up quickly, so we recommend completing the registration at that time.

Will you save a spot for my child?
We cannot save spots for people. Spots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, Tufts accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. You will be directed to our online payment system when you complete the online registration form.

How much do workshops cost?
Co-Ed Robotics is five full days and the fee is $550. Early Elementary Robotics is 3 half-days for $160. Saturday workshops vary in price.

How much experience with programming or LEGO is required?
Previous experience with programming or LEGO is not required. Kids build and program at their own level.

Do you offer scholarships?
We have limited funding for scholarships. To apply, please email Lynne Ramsey.

Can my child attend even if she doesn't meet the grade requirements?
Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions to the grade requirements. Often our workshops are done to test curriculum or technology for research projects being conducted at the CEEO and the grade range of the students participating needs to be precise for research purposes.

Who teaches the workshops?
Our workshops are usually taught by staff, students, or teachers associated with the CEEO.

When do I have to pay?
Payment must be made at the time of registration. After completing the online registration form, you will be directed to the online payment system. Spots in the workshop will be reserved for the first students who are paid in full.

What if I have to cancel, can I get a refund?
No refunds if cancelled within 30 days of workshop date. Cancellations before that date subject to a $100 cancellation fee.
