Curriculum Units Designed at Tufts

"Engineering by Design" - This unit introduces LEGO building and engineering to young learners. Targeted at Grade 1, the collection of over 30 lessons and resources could be used in grades 1-4.
"Simple Machines by Design" This unit focuses on introducing early elementary school students to the fundamental simple machines through engineering and building.
"Structures by Design" This unit focuses on having students explore the geometry of structures through building and data collection. Aimed at 4th grade students the unit could be used effectively in 3-5.
"Analysis by Design" This is a DRAFT of a curriculum unit aimed at allowing middle school students to explore data collection and analysis through engineering and programming.
"Curriculum by Design" This is a preliminary set of activities for 3rd grade students to explore engineering inconjunction with science (the earth's crust, the solar system, and mutation) through building and programming. Also required for this unit are the building directions for the Solar System Rovers (Download Solar System Rovers building Instructions)
"Exploring Physical Science Through Engineering" This unit integrates engineering challenges throughout an entire year of 9th grade Physical Science. Tested in an honors course in Everett, MA, the activities range from scale model building to LEGO boats that investigate buoyant forces to adding spoilers to race cars.

Curriculum Units Designed Elsewhere
