Biography

Dr. Ellise LaMotte, the Associate Provost for Student Success, supports the development of students as scholars and leaders, working collaboratively to create programs and initiatives to support student success, and partners with schools to ensure that students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive at Tufts and beyond. 

Dr. LaMotte also works on issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity across a student’s Tufts experience, from matriculation to graduation. She works collaboratively to operationalize the Tufts anti-racism goals as well as the School of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering’s diversity and inclusion strategic plan goals. Prior to this role, Dr. LaMotte served as the Associate Dean of Student Diversity, Inclusion, and Success and the Director of Tufts Center for STEM Diversity.

Prior to Tufts, Dr. LaMotte was Olin College’s Director of Academic Affairs supporting the Provost and serving as an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion committee. Dr. LaMotte received her BS in Electrical Engineering Technology and MBA from Northeastern University. She received her PhD in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, focusing her research on the experiences of African American women in engineering as they persist to degree completion.
