Biography

Nicolas Triebold is a visiting scholar at the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), working on his Master thesis in the field of Engineering Education, as part of his mechanical engineering program at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). 

Nick earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on biomedical engineering, at ETH Zurich in 2022. He is now pursuing his Master's degree with a focus on product development, data science, industrial design, biomedical engineering, and aviation & railway engineering, also at ETH Zurich. As part of his Master's studies, he completed an exchange at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen and worked for the LEGO group's Creative Play Lab (CPL) in Billund as part of their digital play discovery team. Additionally, Nick has served as a Research and Teaching Assistant for various groups and courses, such as CAD & Technical Drawing, Engineering Design and Material Selection, and the Innovation Project. He has also coached student teams and project, most notably the Liquid Engine Team (LEA) of the Swiss Academic Space initiative (ARIS). 

Outside of his academic pursuits, Nick serves as Sergeant Major in the Swiss Military and has been a member of the business audit committee of the ETH student union (VSETH) and the Swiss Student Union (VSS-UNES-USU). In his free time he enjoys travelling to discover new places and cultures, spending time outdoors hiking or biking, and savoring a good book, movie, concert or time with friends.

His interest in creativity, education, and play has brought him to pursue his thesis at the CEEO.
